23rd Street in Wilmington reopened following gas leak

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Wilmington police cautioned drivers about a gas leak Tuesday afternoon.

A tweet from the department noted 23rd Street was closed near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr Parkway due to the leak. The closure stretches from the 1700 block to the 2000 block. By 4:30 p.m., the road was open again and the scene was clear.

Officers on scene say the leak happened at Alcami, a pharmaceutical company located on North 23rd Street.

Police have not announced what caused the leak.
