Few details known about suspicious death in Wilmington apartment

Police investigating death near Wilmington apartment complex

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy after a body was found in a Wilmington apartment.

On Thursday night, Wilmington police confirmed they were investigating a death in the 4100 block of Randall Parkway. The call initially came in as a missing persons call around 4 p.m., but when officers arrived on scene, they found a person dead inside the apartment.

WECT news crews at the scene observed detectives in a taped off an area near the Mill Creek apartments around 7 p.m. Thursday night.

While officers are investigating the matter as a suspicious death, a press release from the police department clarifies they believe this is an isolated incident and no one else is in danger.

The person’s identity and cause of death is pending an autopsy expected to be complete next week.
