WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A wreck involving a school bus delayed traffic for about an hour Wednesday morning on Carolina Beach Road.
The wreck occurred just before 8 a.m. at the intersection with Sanders Road.
According to Trooper C. Lee with the State Highway Patrol, a driver in an SUV was in the turning lane on the northbound side of Carolina Beach Road.
The driver was attempting to make a left turn onto Sanders Road while having a flashing yellow light but failed to yield for the bus, leading to the collision.
Trooper Lee said that none of the students were injured in the wreck while the bus driver appeared to have suffer minor injuries.
The driver was cited for failure to yield.
The intersection reopened at approximately 8:45 a.m. shortly after another bus arrived to pick up the children on the damaged bus.
