WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A wreck involving a dump truck tied up traffic at the intersection of 17th Street and Shipyard Blvd. Monday morning.
The wreck happened around 9:20 a.m.
According to Wilmington police, a pickup truck was traveling south on 17th Street when it spotted an emergency vehicle with its lights on approaching the intersection.
The driver of the pickup truck decided to stop at the traffic light, which was green, in case the emergency vehicle needed to cross the intersection.
A dump truck traveling behind the pickup was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the truck.
