LELAND, N.C. (WECT) - River Road SE in Brunswick County (Hwy. 133) was shut down in both directions near Westport Drive for more than an hour due to a pair of wrecks Tuesday morning.
According to Trooper Mullins with the State Highway Patrol, a driver in a Dodge passenger car was attempting to make a left turn onto NC 133 when she collided with a red truck shortly after 7 a.m. The truck completely overturned, landing back on its wheels. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Right after that wreck, a driver of a Chevy Trailblazer traveling northbound came to a complete stop to avoid the accident. A Ford F150 then rear-ended the Trailblazer, according to Trooper Mullins.
No other injuries were reported.
The driver of the Dodge was cited for failure to yield while the driver of the F150 was cited for failure to reduce speed.
The road reopened for traffic shortly before 8:30 a.m.
