Commissioners give their approval to name a bridge for a state trooper killed while on the job
38 year old North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Kevin Conner was murdered during a routine traffic stop in Columbus County on October 17, 2018.

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Columbus County commissioners on Monday approved a resolution to name a bridge after a state trooper killed in the line of duty. Chairman Trent Burroughs tells us the vote was unanimous.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol reached out to county leaders, asking them to rename the Highway 701 bridge over Main Street in Whiteville in honor of Kevin Conner, who was killed during a traffic stop last year.
