WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Hi on a Wednesday evening! Take a deep breath, friends, as a northern high pressure system engineered a much-anticipated cool-down! Wilmington had a high temperature of 92 Tuesday and twelve straight 92+ degree days before that, but on Wednesday the afternoon high fell back to 83 with much lower humidity.

Below normal temperatures will persist throughout the duration of the seven day forecast with a slow warming trend with daily highs slowly rising from the mid to upper 80s. Daily rain chances will be in the 10-20% range.
