BURGAW, N.C. (WECT) - The Pender County Animal Shelter is at capacity and waiving fees for cat adoptions through 5pm on Friday, July 12.

The shelter says it took in 10-15 cats/kittens on Wednesday alone.

According to the shelter’s Facebook page, “This is life or death! Cats could face euthanasia at any time due to space.”

We have had 10-15 cats come in today alone and that has pushed us to capacity! Cats are no cost to adopt thru 5pm...

The cats are vaccinated, de-wormed and have been treated for fleas and/or ear mites. They’ll also be spayed or neutered and micro-chipped before going home.

The fees for dog adoptions have also been reduced to $80.

The Pender County Animal Shelter is located at 3280 New Savannah Road in Burgaw. It is open from 8am-5pm Monday through Friday and from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
