UNCW stays in post season hunt with win over James Madison

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Landen Roupp struck out a career-high 11 as UNCW beat James Madison, 7-4, at Brooks Field on Friday.

UNCW (27-28, 11-12 Colonial Athletic Association) moved into a three-way tie for fourth place with JMU and William & Mary. UNCW needs to win Saturday or have William & Mary win at Hofstra.

Elon, Charleston, Northeastern, and JMU have all clinched CAA tournament berths.

Roupp (5-2) earned his third straight win and fanned 11 while allowing one run in 6.1 innings. Greg Jones homered, scored twice and stole two bases for the Seahawks.

The Seahawks and Dukes close out the series with a 2 p.m. start. UNCW will recognize its five seniors prior to the game and following the game, a special ceremony honoring Head Coach Mark Scalf will be held.
