One person taken to hospital after crash involving Leland police car

LELAND, N.C. (WECT) - One person was injured after a collision involving a Leland Police Department officer Thursday.

According to Leland Deputy Police Chief Brad Shirley, an officer was responding to a call at approximately 4:30 p.m. when the police car collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Village Road and S. Navassa Road.

The officer was treated at the scene by EMS.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for what Shirley said were minor injuries.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
