WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Students hoping to get financial assistance at Cape Fear Community College have a better chance of that happening now.

CFCC hosted its annual Gift of Education luncheon at the Wilson Center Thursday.

Hundreds attended the event that raises thousands of dollars for student scholarships.

The guest speakers were three students who have benefitted from scholarship money. They each shared their stories of how the financial assistance made it possible for them to get an education.

CFCC enrolls about 23,000 students each year. The students can train for a career in one of the school’s technical programs or earn a two-year college transfer degree to continue their education at a four-year institution. Adult education and continuing education classes are also provided at CFCC.
