ATHENS, GEOGIA (WECT) - Junior Blake McShea and Tripp Summerlin carded identical one-over-par-72′s in the second round of the Athens Regional on Tuesday at the UGA Golf Course.
The Seahawks, however, fell back to 12th after posting a 18-over-par 302 in the round. Georgia maintained its lead as Duke overtook Vanderbilt for second in the standings. Liberty and Tennessee are in fourth and fifth, respectively. UGA holds the top two spots in the medalist standings with Spencer Ralston and Davis Thompson tied for the lead at four-under for the regional.
Nevada’s Stephen Osborne and Vandy’s John Augustein and Will Gordon are tied for third, one stroke back.
McShea, who shaved one stroke off his opening round total, posted four birdies, including back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh holes to get to one-over.
Summerlin, who carded a five-over 76 on Monday, opened his back nine with three bogeys in the first four holes, but rebounded with an eagle on seven and finished one-over.
McShea and Summerlin are tied for 24th and 34th, respectively, entering Wednesday’s final round.
UNCW closes out its regional appearance on Wednesday alongside Kentucky and Alabama and the trio tees off from hole 10 at 8:55 a.m.
