WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Space X rocket was not able to launch Thursday night from Cape Canaveral, FL.
The launch was postponed for the second time this week just hours before it was slated to leave the ground. Space X now expects the mission to launch in about a week.
The launch was initially scheduled for Wednesday evening, but was postponed last minute to Thursday due to excess upper level winds.
The rocket is scheduled to bring an important payload of 60 satellites into space on this mission.
This launch will be notable for southeastern North Carolina. The rocket should pass a few hundred miles offshore shortly after launch.
The first stage booster should land near a ship stationed a few hundred miles off the Carolina coast.
This path should be close enough that amateur photographers should be able to get some great photos this evening with mostly clear skies in the forecast.
