Want to be a trained weather spotter? Here’s how to do it, for free

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - If you’re looking for a chance to be a certified storm tracker, here is your chance.

On Tuesday, WECT and the New Hanover County Emergency Management are partnering with the National Weather Service office in Wilmington to host a SKYWARN Training class.

The SKYWARN program is made up of volunteer weather spotters who provide ground truth observations and reports to emergency managers and the National Weather Service. The training is free and open to the public.

The seminar is from 6:30-8 p.m. at the New Hanover County Public Library’s Northeast branch located at 1241 Military Cutoff Road.
