Public meeting set for proposal to change Brunswick Co. intersection to interchange

SUPPLY, NC (WECT) - The public will have the chance to weigh in on a proposal to change a busy Brunswick County intersection into an interchange.

The proposed project would affect the intersection of Ocean Highway (U.S. 17) and Southport-Supply Road Southeast (N.C. 211).

According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, a study verified the need for an interchange due to the traffic volume at the intersection. The project would include the construction of two bridges.

A public meeting will be held Thursday, May 16, from 5-7 p.m. at the Brunswick Senior Center located at 101 Stone Chimney Road SE in Supply.

Those interested can stop by any time during the meeting to learn more about the proposal and speak with NCDOT representatives.

Comments can be submitted through June 17 by phone or email by contacting NCDOT Project Manager Brian Harding, P.E. at 910- 341-2000 or bjharding@ncdot.gov, or consultant Project Manager Alison Nichols at 704-940-4725 or alison.nichols@rsandh.com.
