Campaign to help United Way raise $250,000 set for May 14
United Way Media Day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14. It's an all day campaign

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - United Way Cape Fear is teaming up with local media outlets to raise money.

On Tuesday, May 14, WECT, Star News Media and other local media outlets will campaign to raise money for the local nonprofit.

The United Way has set an ambitious goal of $250,000.

“Post Florence, it’s become clear that the need in our community is far greater than what the annual campaign will be able to produce,” said Mike Distelhorst, Coastal North Carolina Group publisher. “We feel that with the combined megaphone of local media companies, we can shine a spotlight on all of the good work that United Way is doing in our community in an effort to increase giving.”

The campaign also will include “Why I Give” testimonials from local residents.
