WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Hurricane Florence pushed back the annual Festival Latino to Cinco de Mayo weekend.
The 20th annual Festival Latino was a free event that took place at Ogden Park. It included music, dancing and plenty of food.
The daylong celebration gave residents the opportunity to share in the diverse Latino cultures of the Cape Fear region, according to event organizer Lucy Vasquez of Amigos Internacional.
“I think sharing and creating in a community, it’s what makes the world a better place," Vasquez said.
"I’m hoping that the Latino festival has that role and is playing that role, and is chipping away any barriers that exist. We are here all together. Let’s make it work,” she said.
Organizers said more than 20,000 attended the event.
