Crews fight woods fire near Leland Sunday evening

LELAND, NC (WECT) - Crews responded to a woods fire near Maco Road and Patrick Drive in Leland Sunday evening.
According to Brunswick County officials, the North Carolina Forest Service and the Northwest Fire Department responded to the scene. Crews fought the fire from the land and sky, dropping water out of planes to try to contain the flames. Officials have not said what caused the fire.
Officials said the first call for the fire came in around 6:22 p.m. Sunday. Around 8:45 p.m. crews said the fire was out.
