WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Saturday was the third annual Sustain with Sound Music and Arts Festival in Wilmington.

Organizers said the goal of the event was to educate and promote sustainable and environmentally friendly living through music and arts. The entire event was zero-waste, with only compostable or recyclable objects, eliminating all single use plastic, and entirely powered through solar technology. This was the first year the event was powered by solar energy donated by Cape Fear Solar Systems.

“We are so grateful to have Cape Fear Solar Systems helping us with an alternative for our energy output for the day," Katy Nickel, the festival founder and director of operations, said.

“We wanted a local and reliable solar company be a part of Sustain with Sound, and they are the perfect fit. Having them at the event to educate and communicate with the public will be extremely beneficial as well," she said.

The event was presented by Pineapple Entertainment.
