Flower release to honor Child Protection Month
New Hanover Social Services release flowers into the Cape Fear river in honor of child abuse.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - New Hanover County Social Services and the Community Child Protective Team is holding a Flower Launch in honor of Child Abuse Protection Month.

This event will teach the public about preventing child abuse and neglect. Flowers will be released into the Cape Fear River, honoring the people who nurture and protect local children.

Flowers will be provided to those who attend. The event is free to the public.

The event will take place at The Shell, located at Pier 33, Wednesday, April 24 at 4 p.m.
