WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Standing desks are growing in popularity. They’re a growing trend in offices and a Wilmington teacher believes they’ll be a hit in her classroom, too.
Jennifer Rosser, a teacher at Myrtle Grove Middle School, is hoping they will help her students stay more focused.
“I’m requesting four stand-up desks to engage our students because when we respect out students’ individual learning styles, we increase our chances of academic success," Rosser said.
The middle school teacher wants to purchase the desks through the Donors Choose website, an online charity organization that helps teachers across the country get funding for projects such as school supplies and classroom desks and chairs.
Anyone can donate to a Donors Choose project.
“Standing desks are not only a healthier option for students, they also increase student focus and engagement,” Rosser said. “By funding these standing desks from Staples, you will allow our students even more flexibility to focus on their education. Having one or two standing desks in a classroom shows students that we respect their learning styles and that we value their needs.”
