Since January, gas is up 50 cents per gallon, according to GasBuddy. Those prices are expected to continue to rise as we get closer to Memorial Day.

The study shows Tuesday is the best day to buy gas in North Carolina while Friday is the worst.

The graphic below is based of 30 states where Monday is the best day to buy. In 16 states, Saturday is most expensive day to buy gas.

Out of 456 cities in America, Wilmington is the 101st least expensive when it comes to gas prices.

As of Friday, April 19, the average prices for regular-unleaded gas is $2.85. That’s up over 43-cents since March and nearly 27-cents since this time last year.

To this day, the highest record average for gas in Wilmington was $4.05 back in July of 2008. The lowest record for gas was in January of 2009 at $1.59.

Sometimes the lines can be just as bad as the prices. GasBuddy also analyzed foot traffic data in the same time-frame. It found that gas station across the country are the least busy on Sundays and Mondays. Fridays were found to be the busiest days to fill up with 5 p.m. being the busiest time nationwide.
