WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The public is invited to attend two NC Department of Transportation open houses and public hearings about the Cape Fear Crossing next week.
A proposed 9.5-mile road and high-level bridge over the Cape Fear River, the Cape Fear Crossing is expected to improve traffic flow and enhance freight movement from US 17 and I-140 in Brunswick County to US 421 near the Port of Wilmington.
Hoggard High is hosting the first event April 29, and North Brunswick High is hosting the second one April 30. At both locations, the open house is scheduled for 5-6:30 p.m. followed by a public hearing at 7 p.m. The same information will be presented at both meetings.
NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and hear comments from the public about the project. Until May 16, comments may also be submitted electronically using NCDOT’s online engagement portal.
