WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - April is Autism Awareness Month and our community has resources that can help those with autism gain the skills to enhance their lives.
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a developmental disorder that affects communication and behavior. Although Autism can be diagnosed at any age, it is said to be a “developmental disorder” because symptoms generally appear in the first two years of life.
Autism Support and Programs (ASAP) in Rocky Point provides a person-centered plan to help those with autism achieve skills to enhance everyday life and functioning in the community. Today, representatives from ASAP joined us on WECT News First at Four to talk about the program.
