UNCW snaps losing streak, gets first road win of the season
HARRISONBURG, Va. (WECT) - UNCW needed two overtimes, but the Seahawks earned their first Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball victory of the season Thursday, beating James Madison 86-83.
Devontae Cacok recorded an 18-point, 19-rebound double-double and Jeantal Cylla led all players with 24 points to pace UNCW (5-10, 1-1 CAA), which snapped a six-game losing streak. It was also the first true road victory of the season for coach C.B. McGrath's club.
Matt Lewis was one of three 20-point scorers for JMU (7-9, 0-3), finishing with a team-high 22 points. Stuckey Mosley added 21 points and Darius Banks scored 20 and grabbed a team-best seven boards.
UNCW outrebounded the Dukes 53-32, including a 20-7 edge on the offensive glass.
Kai Toews chipped in 12 points and handed out a game-high 9 assists for the Seahawks, who play at Towson on Saturday at 2 p.m.
