WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - After a search that stretched over three months, Carolina Beach officials announced that Lucky Narain has been hired as town manager.
Narain, who currently is senior manager for Hayward, CA., assumes his new role on Monday, Feb. 25.
Narain will oversee approximately 117 employees and a $25 million budget.
A total of 41 candidates applied for the position, and four finalists were interviewed. Officials say that town council members unanimously picked Narain as their first choice.
According to information released by the Town of Carolina Beach, he has an undergraduate degree in political science from Christopher Newport University, a master’s in public policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University, and is a graduate of Fordham Law School.
Narain holds a license to practice law in both New York and New Jersey, and is a former Peace Corps volunteer. He also served in the Judge Advocate General Corps as a special adviser in the U.S. Army.
