ATLANTA, GA (WECT) - Devin Mitchell scored 17 of his game-high 23 points in the first half as Georgia State beat UNCW, 86-71 in Atlanta on Wednesday.
UNCW guard Jaylen Fornes led the Seahawks with a season-high 20 points. Forward Jeantal Cylla added 18 points and guard Jaylen Sim chipped in with 12 points off the bench.
“We knew Georgia State was going to shoot three’s,” said UNCW head coach C.B. McGrath. “We just wanted to contest them. We’ve been facing teams lately where three’s have been the focal point of their offense. We played hard every possession of the second half.”
UNCW (4-8) turned the ball over 20 times as they dropped their fourth straight games.
The Seahawks close out the non-conference portion of the schedule Friday, Dec 21 at Mercer in Macon, Ga.
