WECT’s Frances Weller given StarNews Lifetime Achievement Award
WECT Anchor Frances Weller won the StarNews Lifetime Achievement Award.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - At 6 p.m. Wednesday evening, WECT's Frances Weller wasn't where you normally find her.

Instead of anchoring the 6 o’clock news as she has for years, Weller was celebrating the StarNews Lifetime Achievement Award she was given at a luncheon at the Terraces on Sir Tyler.

Along with her sister Margaret Weller Stargell of Coastal Horizons, Fred Eshelman of Pharmaceutical Product Development and Joseph Stanley from the NC Rural Center, Frances was recognized for her tireless work in the Wilmington community, including charity drives Fran’s Fans and Weller’s Wheels, and Plaid Pack, which highlights stories of cancer survivors and shares treatment options.
