Seven years ago Claudia Eastmond started the Cape Fear chapter of Pink Heals, a subsidary of a national organization that aims to empower women with breast cancer and heal the world one smile at a time.

Despite facing cancer for close to three decades, Eastmond spent countless hours volunteering to help others going through a cancer journey before her death in 2017.

"It has been a struggle since our namesake, "Claudia" Eastmond passed away last year," the Facebook announcement said. "We know in our hearts she is in a better place and our organization has made an everlasting impact on the region."

The organization is holding a going out of business sale on all merchandise. It will liquidate assets and disburse funds to local non-profits in the area. Board members will solicit applications in January for consideration of the funds.
