WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Former Ashley High School Athletic Director Roy Turner is one of seven inductees into the 10th class of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Hall of Fame.
Turner served as athletic director at Greensboro Dudley, Southeast Guilford, and Ashley high schools during his career.
“I am very honored to be recognized by the NIAAA,” said Turner. “I haven’t done this alone. A lot of great people have helped me along the way.”
Turner has served as the executive director of the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association since July 2016.
The other members of the 2018 NIAAA Hall of Fame are Bruce Bowen (Richmond, Va.), Steve Duncan (Des Moines, Iowa), Kevin Horrigan (Greenville, Ind.), Allen Huestis (Ponaganset R.I.), Don Riviere (Alexandria, Va.) and Bruce Whitehead (Indianapolis, Ind.).
The induction ceremony is Dec. 18 in San Antonio.
