WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Family, friends, and fans celebrated the life of beloved Wilmington entertainer Jeremy Norris on Wednesday night.
A singer, songwriter, and musician, Norris passed away due to liver failure earlier this month. He performed locally and opened shows for many of the biggest names in country music.
His music touched the lives of many.
“When I think of Jeremy’s music, I think of love. I think of family. I think of happiness and joy," family friend Leo Andrades said. “Anytime I saw him on the stage, it was just pure joy. That was his place.”
Norris' loved ones gathered at the Reel Cafe on Wednesday night to celebrate his life. He spent the past 15 years performing regularly at Reel.
Michael Waggett said Norris was a “true friend in every sense of the word.
“He was the soundtrack to Wilmington. This guy was loved by so many," Waggett added. "It’s an unfortunate loss but his music lives on and that’s what we have. We have Jeremy’s spirit to keep alive and we will carry that torch. I’ll be glad to do it and I’m so lucky to have known Jeremy Norris.”
