WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Did you get a chance to watch the inauguration coverage on Tuesday? I hope so.
Many of us had work, school or other obligations, but I think most people took some time to see highlights.
Tuesday we showed the world what is truly great about America. It doesn't happen often. And it doesn't even happen every four years. In fact, it's only happened eight times in my lifetime. And I'm no spring chicken.
When you think about it - it's amazing. Not many countries in this world see it happen this way. A man from one political party who has formed opinions on all the major issues and on the world just turns everything over to another man who almost totally disagrees with him.
On the political spectrum, President Bush and President Obama couldn't be more different, and yet power was voluntarily handed over - without one single gun-shot being fired.
That's special to me - and it should be to you as well.
In the past I've complained about partisanship, but you know something - America still is a shining example to the rest of the world.
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment, or anything else, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
