WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - As people gear up for the inauguration, law enforcement from all over the country are getting ready too.

One Wilmington-based state trooper was chosen to represent the post and protect the president.  Trooper A.F. Chicelli is headed to the capital Sunday.

He and other North Carolina state troopers will be posted along the parade route Tuesday.

Trooper Chicelli, will retire in two years and was chosen for his service.

"Never in a million years. It's a real big pleasure and an honor and I never thought about it. In fact, that kind of crossed my mind, you know I never would have dreamt that I would have been going," says Chicelli.

Trooper Chicelli will be sworn in as a Washington D.C. officer while in the capital.
