BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A Brunswick County school teacher will find out if she can make the grade Tuesday night on Jeopardy.

Heather Menzel is a teacher at South Brunswick High School and landed a spot on Jeopardy after going to New York for an audition in December.

"So many people say they have tried out multiple times or they've been trying to get in for years. This is my first time," said Menzel. "The producers set up a table, and we mocked contestants, stood up as a real Jeopardy game. They had a real board on power point and we played. They didn't keep points I guess they wanted to see how we'd do on TV."

Menzel teaches American History and said she'll use that subject to her advantage, but she said she's worried about anything that falls under the theater category.

In preparation to the big day, Menzel said she looked up Shakespeare plots to gain knowledge in that subject.

Although she has the chance to win thousands of dollars, she has her eye on another prize - Alex Trebek.

"I'm very excited to meet Alex," said Menzel.  "I almost forgot about the chance to win money. I'm taking a picture with Alex."

Menzel hopes to be a champ on the show she loves for the school she loves.

She flew out to Los Angeles at the end of January to tape the show that will air in March 2009.
