Dwindling economy causes Wilmington garden center to wither away

Posted by Debra Worley - email

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Cross Seed gardening center on Market Street in Wilmington has closed its doors.

December 19, 2008 the business owned by Jeffrey's Seed Cooperation shut down. Jeffrey's Seed Company is a private company based in Goldsboro, NC.

Cross Seed had been open since 1939 and has a sister store in Charleston, South Carolina.

Former employees say the economic downturn has dug into the Charleston store as well, as they plan on closing in the near future.
