Two dogs stolen on the same Wilmington street

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Wilmington Police are investigating two cases of stolen pit bulls.

According to authorities, the dogs were taken from two backyards on Evans Street in Wilmington sometime overnight between New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

The owner of the home at 106 Evans Street said she usually keeps three dogs in the backyard.  She said all of her dogs were in the backyard when she went to bed on Wednesday, but one puppy was missing the next day.

Another dog was stolen down the street at 21 Evans Street.  The owner reported that he also keeps his three dogs in the backyard.  Similarly to the previous case, all three dogs were accounted for Wednesday night and one puppy was missing Thursday morning.

According to the police the mother canine of the second puppy had blood and bruising on her face and legs, and she was not putting weight on one of her front paws.
