WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Don't you just love New Year's resolutions?
Exercise more, lose weight, quit smoking, get out of debt - All great goals, but they're also a bit selfish. They are all about us and not about others.
I'm going to try something a little different this year. I know I could stand to lose a few pounds, and maybe I will, but I'm going with just one simple resolution - I resolve to put others first.
We can open doors for others - literally.
We can help our neighbors more.
We can be better tippers to the waiters and waitresses that work so very hard.
We can be better listeners.
And we can be more courteous to our fellow motorists. That alone can make a huge difference in how people feel when they reach their destinations.
What if we all just put others first? We might find we like it so much that we can keep this resolution all year long.
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment, or anything else, email me at yourturn@wect.com.
