NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The New Hanover County Sheriff's Department was involved in a car chase Monday afternoon after trying to break up an apparent drug deal.
45-year-old Christopher Keegan Walsh fled from the deputies in a burgundy Dodge truck.
The chase began around 3:30 when deputies with the Vice Unit witnessed a drug transaction.
The chase ended at Wrightsville Avenue where deputies arrested the person who fled and seized an undisclosed amount of marijuana and cocaine from the vehicle.
According to investigators, Walsh is a registered sex offender from Virginia. They are unsure if Walsh notified law enforcement about his current whereabouts.
Walsh now faces seven charges including resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, and one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon.
Investigators said Walsh deliberately hit a vehicle driven by one of the deputies.

The incident took place on March 26, 2016. It started when officers stopped a car they said was wanted in connection with a string of larcenies.
