WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Many hotel developers are interested in building in downtown Wilmington.
Some local business owners say they are looking forward to seeing a change of pace downtown.
A new hotel is going to be built at the new convention center, while another will be built on the corner of Third and Grace Streets.
The most recent hotel announcement is a Courtyard Marriott Hotel that will be built at Second and Grace Street.
Many business owners hope the hotels will bring traffic.
"I expect the convention center to have a big draw for tourists into community. You know tourists are great. They don't use hospital they don't use your schools they just come to town and spend money," says Billy Sutton a former Councilman.
Groundbreaking for the hotel close to the convention center is set for next summer.
