WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -- One man is dead and another is in the hospital after two separate shootings in Wilmington.

In the first incident, police say just before midnight Wednesday Jameel Robbins was shot in the upper body outside a house on Winterberry Court.

Robbins was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he is in critical condition.

Investigators say they're looking for three masked men who approached the home with an AK 47.

Some neighbors say they were awakened by a helicopter that was searching for the shooter.

Police say they don't know the motive behind the shooting.

In the second incident, police say just after 4:00 Thursday afternoon, an officer was driving down Castle Street when he heard gunshots.

The officer found 25-year old Montez Jones lying on the sidewalk, shot and bleeding.

After talking with witnesses, police brought in a helicopter to search for their suspect, and they tell WECT they do have a specific person in mind.

Jones was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he passed away during surgery.

Police aren't releasing the name of their suspect at this time.
