(WECT) - Snoring could help you lose weight, though it may not be the best way to do it.

Turkey Researchers found that people who have terrible snoring problems burn hundreds of more calories each night than people who only have minor snoring problems.

So, the next time your spouse wakes you up because you're snoring, roll over and tell them you're burning calories.

Researchers looked at patients with various signs of sleep problems and measured the calories they used while sleeping.

Those with severe sleep apnea burned close to 375 more calories a day, which is the same amount they would burn during a vigorous 30 minute workout in the gym.

Doctors warn this is not a good way to lose weight.  Sleep apnea has been linked to high blood pressure and heart problems because of the stress it puts on the body's airways.
