WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - During these tough economic times, many restaurants and stores are no longer accepting large bills, in fear that the money is counterfeit.

Recently a man walked into an area Subway Restaurant and paid for his meal with a fake $100 bill.

The store manager says for the time being, they're not taking anything larger than a $20 bill.

The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office says other financial crimes are on the rise.

Gas drive-offs began increasing as well when pump prices began to rise.
