BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A Brunswick County woman is trying to cover up bare feet for a good cause.
Comfort Socks is a non-profit organization that collects new socks and distributes them to agencies that serve the homeless, the poor, and disaster victims.
Saturday, November 29, Comfort Socks held a sock-a-thon at Angelo's Restaurant in Shallotte.
Folks received a free beverage in exchange for a pair of socks.
Organizers say the goal is not just the comfort of people's feet.
"Our main mission is to make them feel a little better to ease their pain a little bit, even if it's for a short time. I just know it will make them feel better and that's what we are after," said founder Theresa Tese.
Tese says she is working with several area department stores that may donate socks to her organization each time a customer buys a pair.
