My Turn, Your Turn: Daylight Savings time

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A lot of people have been complaining about being tired, sluggish and out of sorts.

At first I thought it might be the gloomy weather conditions early in the week, but that's not it.  I think I figured it out.  It's this stupid concept of changing the clocks.

Oh, I know I got an extra hour of sleep last weekend.  I don't know about you - but adjusting my body clock twice a year takes about a month each time.

Plus, I like having what little daylight I get during the winter months at the end of each day.

A couple states did away with daylight saving time.  But no state has done away with standard time.  How about North Carolina being first?

Sounds radical.  Not really.  Standard time was implemented so the trains could run on one schedule.  When was the last time you took a train?

I am not sure what the process is to make year-round daylight saving time a reality.  I am far too cranky and out of sorts to worry about the details.

I do know this - when it comes to standard time, I think the time has come to get rid of it.

That's my turn.  Now it's your turn.  To comment on this segment, or anything else, email me at
