WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Since the start of the school year, there's been some noise about all the noise around UNCW.
It's an age-old issue for homeowners who live near a college campus. At the start of every school year police warn students that if they are going to party, they need to keep it down. Then the first few weekends of the semester, police show they mean business by ticketing those over the sound limit. Eventually the crackdown slows down - and the volume goes back up.
I want to make it perfectly clear. I do not live anywhere near the campus. But I feel for the homeowners who do. It's not just the sound they have to put up with - but also the cars parking on their lawn and the beer cans thrown around.
I'm not a "fuddy duddy." I had a great time when I was in college. And I want the students at UNCW to enjoy those special years too. But one of the first lessons they need to learn is about being a good neighbor. Maybe it could be a requirement. How about Citizenship 101?
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email me at yourturn@wect.com.
