WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - We've made the Big Switch, and this is the first commentary in digital-only.
I think there are two things that really stand out for me.
Viewer Maryana Higley noticed one. On Monday our news cameras captured Higley as she watched digital television for the first time.
For over-the-air viewers like Maryana who went from analog to digital, the difference is incredible.
And as neat as the technology is, it's not nearly as impressive as the teamwork required to pull it off. It was exciting to see how many community and governmental organizations embraced the project and joined the effort.
It would probably be easier to name the folks who were not involved. And the best news: only a handful of viewers got surprised by this.
Sure, there are still some bugs to work out. But the good people in the Wilmington television market did a wonderful job showing the rest of country what can be done when everyone works together. I'm proud to be one among you.
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this subject or anything else, email me here.
