BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in connection to the death of Valerie Burns.
Carl Henry Alston, 35, was arrested and charged with murder.
The body of Burns was found in the trunk of her car July 30, off of Goodland Road.
The Buick was destroyed by fire, and an autopsy revealed that Ms. Burns died from smoke inhalation.
Alston is being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility under no bond.
North Carolina Department of Corrections web site shows Alston was released from prison on 06/22/2008.
The Investigation is continuing.
