WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - I received an email from a viewer that caused a flood of unpleasant flashbacks. Here's part what this person had to say:
"School is back in session. First day, children coming home with stuff to sell. (To make money for their school?)"
Yep - I know what's about to happen. It's really only a matter of time. Pretty soon I'll answer the door and there will be some charming little 8-year-old with the world's biggest eyes and most beautiful smile trying to sell me a 12 pound candy bar. Oh, I know I don't need those extra calories. But what am I to do? You can't say no to the next Donald Trump. And besides it's all for a good cause. It's part of a big school fundraiser.
Does this bother anyone else? Well that same viewer has an idea. She writes:
"I would think a better idea is for each family to purchase one $1.00 scratch off lottery ticket and send it to school with child. The school has a good chance of getting money, plus their purchase goes into the lottery fund, which benefits the schools, right???"
Pretty creative - but I don't think it will happen. This means I fall victim to every 8 year old kid with something to sell. How about some fat-free stuff this year?
With a little help from Kay - that's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email me, here.
