WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - There was a big crowd at the Digital-TV Expo in downtown Wilmington Thursday.
The event was designed to draw attention to the September 8 big switch, and there's new evidence the effort is paying off.
A new poll release by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) reveals 97% of the households in the Wilmington TV market know about the switch. That number is up from 89% in May.
And just as important, 77% of the 500 families polled could identify the switch date as September 8.
The NAB vice president Jonathan Collegio says, "Broadcasters and the FCC have done a lot of heavy lifting to get awareness levels up. However, there is still more to be done, and we will keep working to reach everyone willing to listen."
That effort continues this weekend. The DTV Trekker will be at the Train Station in Burgaw Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM.
