WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The last week or so we've been focusing on off-shore drilling. We've already shared the thoughts of those who are against it.  Now let's hear from those who favor it.

Like Sarah: "Due to the wars, conflicts and rising oil prices the US needs to stand on its own two legs.  By drilling off our coast we will be able to bridge the gap on our energy needs."

Tim agrees: "Now more than ever, our great country must show the World, that we can support ourselves with domestic energy resources. So if we have to look at off shore oil wells then we need to hold our heads high and make it happen."

Captain Lee Parsons wrote that wells could actually be good for the environment:  "A bonus to the oil wells is that once a tower has established itself, it becomes habitat for fish, crabs and coral and many other species."

And finally Roy, who answered my question by asking one of his own:  "We are letting foreign countries drill offshore and suck the oil right out from under us and you are twiddling your thumbs wondering, should we drill offshore?  Gary, Is you crazy?"

For me - I'm calling this debate a tie and moving on to something else.

That's your turn.  To comment on this segment or anything else, email me here.
